We continue to be a proud sponsor of the Strive V5k!
Independence Wealth Advisors continued to be a proud sponsor of Strive's 6th Annual Virtual 5K! This annual tradition is an opportunity to complete a 5K during the first week of November and help Strive raise critical funds to support their programming!
The 6th Annual Strive V5K took place Monday, November 1 - Sunday, November 7, 2021. We were happy to join the event and over 300 V5K participants around the world!
Strive is a non-profit organization dedicated to character-driven leadership development. Through a robust scholarship program, Strive leads the way in developing character leaders in underserved communities. With a focus on high school and collegiate athletes and their coaches, Strive sharpens teams’ power and impact through teaching winning leadership and culture-building strategies that extend into life.

As financial planners, we focus each day on coaching and leading clients.
It may come as no surprise that we chose to support the Strive Leadership Organization’s 4th Annual Virtual 5k, which effectively helps to develop character leaders in underserved communities with more than $125K in scholarships and a commitment to students from all backgrounds. This year, our firm was one of Strive’s Annual Virtual 5k sponsors. We extended an invite to all clients to be one of our sponsored run/walkers to complete a 5k walk/run, during the week of October 27, 2019, and we were thrilled to have clients participate from across the country—including several high-energy pet dogs!

Strive, based in Wilmington, Delaware, is dedicated to character-driven leadership development. Through a robust scholarship program, Strive leads the way in developing character leaders in underserved communities. With a focus on high school and collegiate athletes and their coaches, Strive sharpens teams’ power and impact through teaching winning leadership and culture-building strategies that extend into life. Strive offers a research-based, customizable curriculum that begins with self-knowledge, moves into culture creation, and ultimately instills the habit of rigorous leadership practice in its program participants. Strive believes that when you find the best in yourself, you inspire the best in those around you. That's great leadership.
Consistent with our firm's culture, we like to support the local communities we all call home.
Given our deep knowledge of our clients' interests, we continue to be inspired by the many great initiatives and charitable organizations where our clients invest their time volunteering. In fact, to add extra meaning to our various client events, we often take a brief moment to share information about a "local charity in the spotlight."
In 2019, we enjoyed our second year as a sponsor of the Kennett Run. This race is organized by The Kennett Run Charities Board and provides more than $45,000 in grants to local nonprofit organizations every year. All of the proceeds from the race go directly back into the community. You can find out more about the race at www.kennettrun.net. This year, we had a team of 9 clients participate in the 30th-anniversary run/walk and spend. We "ran like it was 1989" in the pursuit of health and wellness!

During 2018, we enjoyed:
1. An April evening tasting Italian wines with great food pairings at The Gables, in Chadds Ford, PA.
For more than 10 years, the Urban Bike Project has been supporting Wilmington communities by providing access to bicycling as a healthy, affordable, and practical means of transportation and recreation. We donated $20 to the Urban Bike Project for each client in attendance, and we were proud of our resulting $1,400 firm donation.

2. A September afternoon watching the Philadelphia Union soccer team, from the wonderful Stadium Club within Talen Stadium to see a fun soccer match against the scenic backdrop of the Delaware River.
Given the sporting theme, we shared some information about the Wilmington, Delaware, based Strive organization, which makes a meaningful impact on youth through sports by “WORKING WITH STUDENTS, COACHES, ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMUNITIES — building intentional cultures and developing leaders at every level of a program.” https://www.striveleadership.org/

July 12, 2017, Annual Night at the Blue Rocks Client Event

It was a fun night at this year’s ballgame where we once again supported the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition in the fight against cancer.
Rocky stopped in to say hello and pose for a picture with some fans!
The Blue Rocks, after a long hot summer night, finally won in the 13th and a few of our die-hard clients were able to take home the special one-and-only breast cancer awareness jersey worn and autographed by their favorite new Blue Rock star, Walker Sheller #31!
